back from the dead // some life updates, the future of this blog, and new projects

*rises from the dead* Well. I'm alive! It's only been... *checks calendar* oh, you know... almost six years since I updated my blog. Oops. life updates Where to start? My last update was on the cusp of the beginning of my sophomore year, and boy oh boy did a LOT of stuff change. Sophomore year was hectic and quite honestly... I don't remember most of it. As far as junior year goes, I was part of my high school's production of Newsies in November, entered a relationship in January 2019, got voted for prom court... then that relationship turned incredibly toxic and I blanked out for a solid four months at the end of it.  I don't remember most of my senior year, unfortunately.  I broke up with that person in December 2019, started dating someone else in February 2020... And then the pandemic hit. I somehow graduated high school, went to college for a semester and then moved back home. I met my current boyfriend in real life for the first time in July 2020 (it's hi

dear sophomore year (and a few ramblings and apologies)

So let me start off by saying, I am so sorry  for not updating my blog all summer. I finished my freshman year, then had a crazy busy summer, and now it's back to school this Friday. Anyway, with it being a new school year, I'm deciding to freshen up the overall appearance of the blog, as well as try to update every week. So, without further ado, here's a little letter-ish thing to my sophomore year (inspired by the lovely Katie Grace- check her out  here .) dear sophomore year Dear  sophomore year: as I sit here writing this post, I'm still both dreading and looking forward to going back to school. With my sophomore year comes a whole slew of new responsibilities: driving, getting straight A's (HA. No.),   hopefully  getting a job, and a million other things. In less than three short years, I'm going to be done with high school and off to college. I remember when I was younger, thinking I had forever until high school. And look--one year of

"it's sooo easy to write a book!"// rants + ramblings (and my writing process)

So today is a typical Monday. (And, side note, I'm actually kind of keeping up a regular schedule with blogging! Woop! I might switch blogging days to Monday, but might keep them on Fridays. Or, even, do both Mondays and Fridays. *le gasp* I like the idea of both Mondays and Fridays, but that's tentative for now. I'll see how it goes!) Anyway, like I said, today is a Monday. In other words, exhausting and blah. Okay. So on Mondays and any day in general , if I get mad or irritated about something, I tend to let it simmer all day. Darn it, now I'm thinking about soup.  Anyway, this is a topic about something I enjoy greatly: writing. So one day I was scrolling through Pinterest (like I always do), and I came across a post. You can find it  here . I read through it, and it's been on my mind for a long time now. Writing a book is difficult. Editing is difficult. EVERYTHING IS DIFFICULT. A few people at school know that I'm writing a book, and a few have even

A little book review (and it's April?)

Image
So for starters, it's April. March flew by! I only have about 48 days before school is over. O.O (And yes, I am surprisingly still alive.) So. Today, I'm here with a lovely little review. This is my first real review, other than on Goodreads, so don't kill me please!  So I'm going to review DREAMERS OFTEN LIE by the lovely Jacqueline West (you can find her website  here ), and let me just say: I adore this book. I adore this author.  Jacqueline is a sweet, lovely, absolutely amazing human being. I can't express how awesome she is! So go check her out now or I'll scream!  Ahem, I mean, I'll politely ask you, then beg you, then resort to screaming at you to go check her out. :) I'm joking! But she's a great friend and I really love her books. So let's get back on track, shall we? Here's the cover: That cover is so pretty.  There was blood on the snow.  White, with a smattering of red. Like petals.   So. The book is a bout a

New writing projects, pinterest aesthetics, and more

So I'm writing yet another book. I'm thinking of two names for it: In The Dark of Night, or Star Light, Star Bright. It has to do with a girl who's having these strange, creepy dreams, and every morning she wakes up with bruises and cuts all over her. She eventually goes to a festival with one of her friends, and jokingly agrees to get her fortune told. She takes it as a big joke, but the things that the fortuneteller tell the girl begin to become eerily similar to things that are happening in her life. It's really creepy and dark and messes with your mind, and I'm sooo excited! I also started a pinterest board for it, and I love the aesthetic of it so much. http://pin.it/6PxhVqM I'm very excited to finish this book. I feel like I've really found my voice with it, and I hope to continue on with it. I'm excited to see where it takes me, and where I'll go with it. So now I'm following a somewhat-normal schedule with blogging again, and I

Life updates

So I took a wee bit of a blog hiatus. My apologies. I've just been so busy. I've been at school for eight hours a day (but that's normal haha), then coming home and doing loads of homework, and some nights doing pep bands and other thins like that. By the end of the day, I hardly have time to read (hence why I was behind on my reading goal on goodreads). I've been practicing and practicing my solo for Solo and Ensemble, as well as my duet, and I've been just so busy.  Life has been interesting, but I hope things are going to take a turn for the better. I haven't had time to write recently, but I'm hoping that that can help me be a little less stressed and a bit more happy. (Also, on Wednesday, I get to go see a counselor. (Also, I refuse to use the word "shrink". It just sounds mean.) I went to see a counselor about a year ago,and it helped. I hope that this helps as well.) Life has most definitely been interesting. I hope to get back to a some

I'm back!!

So. It's January. It's cold and snowy outside, and bright and warm inside. It's finals week, and I'm crazy busy and tired already, but it's definitely an interesting experience. I'm just in a little bit of a brighter spot in life, and it's good. Also, Canadian friends are the best! (Shoutout to Jules, Ares, Suzy, Danny, and (last but definitely not least) Aidan! Love you all! *hands you all maple butter and meese*)  I'm happy but tired, but life is good right now. Lots of friends are making me smile, and I love you all. Also, my apologies for the slight blog hiatus... I was super stressed and tired, but I'm alive! Barely hanging by a thread, but still... Love you guys! And, since it's a new year, I'm using a new outro!! ~ Indi
